Poet Amanda Gorman Will Read at Joe Biden's Inauguration It is official, Amanda Gorman, the first national youth poet laureate, will be the reader at Joe Biden's inauguration. Her work focuses on issues of oppression, feminism, race, and marginalization, as well as the African diaspora. Amanda Gorman is the first black woman to be named in the national youth poet laureate. She is most famous for her poem, We Rise, and the Miracle of Morning.

Andrea Hall, First African American Female Firefighter, Delivers Pledge of Allegiance at Inauguration Andrea Hall will be delivering the pledge of Allegiance at Joe Biden's inauguration. Hall is the first African American Female fire fighter to serve in the City of Fulton's Fire Rescue Department. She has dedicated 28 years of her life in service as a firefighter.

Coming 2 America: James Earl Jones Celebrates his 90th Birthday James Earl Jones celebrates his 90th birthday on January 17, 2021. The well aged actor is best known for this role in Coming to America and as the voice of Mufasa in the 2019 Lion King movie. The actor is scheduled to appear in the second sequel of Coming to American, Coming 2 America. In an email to USA Today, James writes that he's "feeling fantastic and grateful at 90 years old. Looking back at my life and extensive career, I am so proud of my work and accomplishments. I love growing older and wiser with time."

Javicia Leslie Plays Batwoman on CW TV Show Javicia Leslie will star as Batwoman in the second season of the CW TV show, Batwoman. The 33 year old American actress is best known for her roles on the CBS comedy-drama “God Friended Me” and the BET crime drama “The Family Business. Maya Angelou's Doll Sold In Canada Mattel announced that the doll replica of civil right activist, black feminist, and author, Maya Angelou, will be released in Canada in 2021. The doll can be purchased at Walmart and Indigo when available. The doll is part of an initiative to feature more dolls that are Black, Indigenous and women of colour, in order to do better by Black communities.

Watch One Night in Miami on Amazon Prime One Night in Miami is now streaming on Amazon Prime. It tell the tale of Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Muhammad Ali (Eli Goree), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr), and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) coming together to discuss the responsibility of being successful black men during the civil rights movement. The movie is highly rated with rotten tomatoes giving it a 98%.

Netflix Releases the Trailer for Malcolm & Marie Movie Netflix release the trailer of Malcolm and Marie which has a release date of 5 February 2021. The movie is about a filmmaker, Malcolm (played by John David Washington) and his girlfriend, Marie (played by Zendaya) who discuss their past relationships while returning home from a movie premiere.

Outside the Wire Is Now Playing on Netflix Netflix released Outside the Wire on January 15 2021. The movie tells a tale of a war between U.S Marines and Ukraine in 2036. During the war, Lt. Thomas Harp, a drone pilot (Damson Idris), disobeys a direct order and launches a drone strike which kills 2 marines but saves 38. As punishment Thomas gets sent to a new post in Ukraine. Here he meets Captain Leo (Anthonie Makie) who is half machine, half soldier. The must work together to neutralize the Ukrainian rebels in order to win the war.

Nate Parker's Movie, American Skin, Is Out Now Nate Parker's movie, American Skin, is now available to watch on Google Play or Itunes. The movies tells a tale of a Lincoln's (played by Nate Parker) son  Kijani (Tony Espinosa), who was unlawfully shot and killed by police. When the police officer is found innocent without standing trial, he Lincoln takes matters into his own hands. The movie got mixed reviews from various review sites.

Capitol Hill Police Officer Eugene Goodman hailed as 'a hero' Eugene Goodman is hailed a hero after cleverly directing  an angry mob of Trump protestors away from Senators in the Capitol Hill. Eugene's actions prevented the protesters from coming in contacts with Senators who were not safely securely at the time.

Rev. Raphael Warnock Becomes First Black Senator from Georgia January 6th 2021 is a day to remember for Raphael Warnock as he won one of Georgia’s two Senate runoffs. This makes Raphael Warnock the first black Senator from Georgia.
