Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reboot Is In The Works!

fresh prince of bel-air reboot in the works.
"Now, this is a story all about how; My life got flipped-turned upside down; And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there; I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air." I am sure everyone remembers those infamous word from the theme song of a show we all love, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Well, it has been a whole 30 years since the last it last aired on TV on May 26, 1996 and a reboot is now in the works!

Y'all remember that viral Fresh Prince of Bel-Air trailer back in 2019? If you don't, where it is again:
The trailer by Morgan Cooper (a Fresh Prince super-fan), was actually a spoof of what The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air might look like if it suddenly returned to the airwaves in 2019. Talk about getting our hopes up right?? Yes I was excited too!

Regardless of what it was, it caught Will Smith's attention and he has been working on the new concept since it's inception back in 2019. It has even been reported that Cooper will have the honours of being the co-writer the script, director and credited as a co-EP (co-executive producer).

The reboot will be titled Bel-Air (as in the trailer) and may be streamed on HBO Max, Netflix or Peacock depending on who wins the streaming bid.

The hour-long tv drama will be based on the original tv series, where Will Smith leave his troubled hometown, Philadelphia, to live in Bel-Air with his uncle and aunt. There, Will must navigate the change in culture from his hard-knock street upbringing to the sweet white collar life of Bel-Air. The show also explores what it means to be a black man in America as he deals with past emotional trauma all the while having fun and showcasing the swagger the original Will Smith character had.

News of the reboot has been trending since August 9th as Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fans patiently await news of the release date, which has not been established yet.The original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been on air for six seasons and six years (1990 - 1996) and was nothing short of exciting, emotional, and fun. With Will Smith's involvement in this, I thin this will definitely live up to the original.

Do you guys think this reboot will live up to the hype? Comment below!
